April the unreliable month. Spring seems far away. So it is better to stay inside and work.

We are right now working with schools and housing porjects for PartilleBo.
We have designed new office for Stena Line German route. They are moving in the second week in April.
For Stena Line we are finalizing the Stena Mersey and Stena Lagan, and we will continue with the areas not refurbished so the public decks will be all "new".
On the drawing board there are possible refits for 2013.
Scandlines Aurora started to sail end of last month and the big opening party will be on April 19th. Good reviews as we had with the other Scandlines vessels. New on Auroraare upper deck restaurant and bar. Photos will come shortly.

February is already here but spring is not around the corner. At least not here in Sweden. Winter came late and now we are really longing for the sun.
We have been busy working with Scandlines. The Mercandia is just finished today the 3rd of Feb and Aurora is on its way and will go into dock on the 22nd.
Superfast 7&8 is still a success and in Cruise & Ferry Info we are getting a superlative review:
"Figura, again....The Pod Lounge is perhaps the most inventive and engagingly designed space on a ferry for a very long time...."

Stena Superfast is in service today the 21st of November.
Superfast 7 & 8 are new ferries for the Stranraer - Belfast route.
Two 600 passenger ferries converted to 1200 passenger in Poland at Remontowa Shipyard. Interior outfitting made by MJM, Northern Ireland.
Friday the 25th official launch of new terminal building in Cairnryan,where FIGURA have been consultant for plan layout of public areas and corporate design and colour scheme. At the lounch the guests will visit the new ferries.

Summer was too short as always and August and September was uplifting with rain and lots of work. At last a chance to update the homepage.
The sadnew that Robert Åkerlund, Stena Line passed awayjust reached us. Our deep sympathy with his family. We will miss his prfessional and dynamic person as well as his humour and personality.
Superfast 7 & 8 are converted in Poland.The 2 vessels will be finished and sail in ewarly November. Check the web site for photos.
Two decks are converted as well as the car decks.
New concepts have been developed for the vessels. A new sub brand of the existing Taste concept is a new quickfood restaurant the Taste "quick fresh and tasty" restaurand, a new interactive lounge, The Pod Lounge, with IPAD- Xbox_ and 3D cinema activities in a lounge design.
Bar, Living Room and Stena Plus will also be part of the totally new interior of the vessels.
Scandlines is continuing their refit program of the vessels between Helsingborg and Helsingör. Tycho Brahe will be refitted in October/November and we are right now redesigning Mercandia and Aurora will follow.
Locally in Gothenburg,the suburb of Partille have started some of the projects we started on before summer.
We are working with some additions and refurbishment of schools, Vallhamraskolan, Skulltorpsskolan among others.
we are designing new facilities in Björndammen together with a skateboardarea. Upgrading of facades etc will also be done.
We are wotking with Kåsjögården with facilities for outdoor activities.
Apartments/housing for authors is designed in Jonsered and will be finished this winter.
Closeby there will be a greenhouse with a conservatory.

Two launches in one month!
Scandlines Hamlet was launched May the 5th and was appropriately celebrated by prominent guests from Helsingborg and Helsingör.
Stena Scandinavica IV had a namegiving ceremony in Kiel the 126th of May, and is now sailing together with Stena Germanica III on the Gothenburg - Kiel route.
We are currently working on two conversions for Stena as well as conversions for Scandlines.
The Reef, the hotel in Helsingör, have had a relaunch and we are continuing the refurbishement of the hotel with change rooms and an activity room for teenagers.
On land we are continuing the jobs described last month.
Summer is closing in and on Tuesday the 30th of May we will close the office in the afternoon for the annual FIGURA summer event.

Spring at last!
A lot is happening in the office right now.Hans has left us for a new position at Semrén & Månsson - we wish you Good luck with your new job!
BUT we will get tweo new members of the FIGURA family. Anna Maria Blixt, architect, starts May the 2nd and Alexander Anderrsson, engineer, will join us in June.
FIGURA got two prestigious awards at the Shippax Conference in Barcelona. “Outstanding Ferry Concept” for the newbuild Stena Hollandica, sailing between Hook and Harwich, and the “Outstanding Ferry Conversion” for the Stena Germanica. The most reviewed on the Germanica is the Panorama class cabins, presented in a feature article ini "Passenger Ship Technology", this article will be presented under new head line "Press". Stena Scandinavica IV, former Britannica, finally arrived from Poland and is now sailing together with her sister ship Germanica III between Göteborg and Kiel.
We are now continuing the work on The Reef with a teenager area and face lift of the change rooms and shower areas.
We have just finalized the drawing phase of an addition of building C of the school in Vallhamra.We are now working with sketches for building A.
We are also sketching renovation of the school in Lexby.
The day care center in Jonsere3d is finished and we will continue with phase 2.
The local governement building in Partille is continuing with new phases of renovatin and alteration.
We have designed projects for rebuilding of housing for elderly people in Furulund and the building of those is soon to begin.
We have designed a car sale centre in Partille and in Lerum we have designed another Car Wash for Mjuk Biltvätt, a regular client.

Fall 2010 was a very hectic period for FIGURA and we did not have time to update the homepage.
The last half year we had many exciting projects for both Stena Line and PartilleBo.
For Stena Line we designed a new concept - Pure Nordic Spa. This has been implemented on both Stena Vision and Stena Saga. The concept has been has been very well received and there has been a lot of comments in the press. 3D views can be seen on our front page. These will shortly be replaced with photos. Press comments:
Scandlines Hamlet will have a toitally new concept adapted tro the route. Eat, shop and toilet visit in 20 minutes is a challenge.Hamlet will sail in first week in April and then we will see if we have succeded. If so the rest of the vessels will follow.
The Reef Resort Hotel is a success and now follows a fdace lift of the conference areas- First week in March the new Caribbean flavoured conference area that will acoompany the Caribbean theme bath.
We have designed major conversions on the Stena Trader and Traveller. These ships are chartyered out to Newfoundland company Marine Atlantic and they sail right from St Johns out to the island archipelago.
We have designed an exhibition for Skogssällskapet that works with forest management. They celebrate centennial anniversay and the exhibition will promote that event.
We have designed a new activity house in Björndammen.
A day care centre in Jonsered is soon finished and another has just opened.
We are making sketches for Jonsereds Herrgårdsmiljö where we now dewsign cafe´and greenhouses.
We are also working with refurbishment and addition to the school in Vallhamra.
We have participated in an invited competition regarding a"secret" project for the local governement in Partille. FIGURA was chosen to continue with the project.
We cannot reveal anything right now but it is a very exciting project.

What a summer we have had! We are now all settled and working full speed with new exciting projects.
The Reef is a success with full occupancy and happy satisfied visitors. We are designing some new parts to complete the product.
FIGURA have been to many launches lately. First The Reef, then the new Hollandica in Holland and just recently the new Germanica III in Gothenburg.
The lastest one in Gothenbur4g was christened by the Minister of Transport Åsa Torstensson and the evening was a big party with fireworks, good food and music. This project is the biggest in the marine history in Gothenburg.
September 31st is the first sail and we wi´sh her a good sailing and good luck.
At the same time Stena Germanica II will go to dock for a refit for the Polish route.
In Partille and Jonsered FIGURA has designed two new schools.
In Jonsered we have also redesigned the old Inspectors house, The local government in Partille and The University of Goithenburg has been involved in this sensitive redesign and addition.
We are also sketching a proposal new building close to Kåsjön and other projects for housing for elderly people, addition to Vallhamra school, newbuildong in Furulund and the new phase of the Partille Local Governement building.

The Reef has opened!
June the 1st there was a well represented pree conference in Fredrikshamn.
FIGURA, PP Arkitekter and Stylt guided 30 journalists from Sweden, Denmark and Norway around the facilities. The respons was very positive and everybody enjoyed the Caribbean atmosphere, food and water activities.
The launch will continue with a celebrity party on Sunday the 6th and an official opening on the 7th of June. More photos will come as soon as possible...
June is a hectic month. The 8th of june there will be a launch of Stena Hollandica in Hoek van Holland.
The naming ceremony by Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands.
Stena Hollandica is the first of two vessels built in Wismar and they will be the biggest RoPax ferries in the world with 1200 passengers and 5500 lane metres of lorries and cars.
FIGURA has designed all public areas and the crew areas.

New year and new expectations. 2010 has started as last year ended with a lot of work.
The refurbishment of Partille Local governement building phasae 2 is finished, see photos, and we are in the proicess of next phase.
Stena Hollandivca and Britannica will undergo major conversions and we are now following up Stena Hollandica with meetings with the yard.
For Stena Line UK have gotten new refit dwesign from us regarding Stena Lynx III and Stena Europe. Stena Navigator will be completed with decorations. Navigator has gotten fine press and has made impression with the "Scandinavian Design" theme onboard. Photos will follow.
The Stena Ropax newbuild in Wismar will soon be delivered, end of April.
BUT all of this is overshadowed by the tragedy in Haiti. Now we have to concentrate to help the Haitians. We have contributed and we hope that all of you reading this will do the same.

Christmas is coming up and we long for a well deserved time off. We hope you will have a nice and relaxing weekend.
The refurbishment and conversion of the Hotel in Fredrikshamn is running full speed. Tiles are being put down and in January the mountain will be started to be built. Photos from the site shortly.
The refurbishment of the local governement building in Partille phase 1 is finished. Photos of the new entrance and reception area will come shortly.
The first of the two Ropax 55 sailed out of the dock and in now lying along quay for completion. Number 2 is in the drydock and the parts are being assembled.

The new theme bath project for the Stena Line hotel in Fredrikshamn is going ahead with speed.
The strip out of the old structure is finished and now the new concrete structures are cast.
The refurbishment of the local governement building in Partille phase 1 is soon finished. The building has a new welcoming entrance and a new reception area. Photos will be published soon.

Fall is here!
But exciting new projects light up the dark season.
The redesign of the Stena Line Hotel in Fredrikshamn is has started. The stripping out has already started and we are designing while PEAB is building.. We are working together with PP arkitekter, adventure bath experts, in this project which is fun and rewarding. We hope to show photos from the site as well as illustrations on the web site soon.
Conversion and additon to the local governement building Partille is on. Phase 1 is soon finished and a new generous and welcoming entrance together with a new reception area is being built.Photos will come soon. Stage 2 and 3 will follow shortly.
Stena Navigator is in the yard in Ireland for refit and will sail early November.
The Stena Newbuild in Wismar is running again after restructuring of the yard. We hope the first vessel of the two will be finished spring 2010.
Canodros Cruises is doing their annual refit of a 5 year facelift that we have designed for them. Soon it will sail from Panama with a new restaurant etc to Galapagos. Photos soon I hope...

We are now all back after holiday. The summer has been a mixed bag with both sun and rain, mostly rain unfortunately. But the summer is not over yet, let us hope for an Indian summer.
We are redesigning the Stena Line Hotel in Fredrikshamn. A new theme park bath, a new outdoor pool area and redisigned lobby, reception restaurant areas.
Stena Navigator a new addition that will sail the Irish Sea. Navigator will get a facelift during October and will sail in mid November.
Stena Adventurer and Caledonia is sailing but still some complimentary signage and graphics were done. Photos will come shortly.....
The Ljunggren Residence is ready for moving in. Photos on the web site - see first page and architecture .

Spring is here!
The Stena newbuild in Wismar is developing rapidly. All decks except the funnel is assembled and it is a grand vessel measuring 260 metres by 32 metres. With 5500 lane metres it will be the largest Ropax in the world.
The sister vessel is already on its way and will have keel laying in May.
A private house in Mölnlycke, The Ljunggren Residence, is in its final stage and will be finished in May according to the plan.
Phase 1 of the rebuilding and addition of the local administration office in Partille has started and we are working withdesign of phase 2.
We are also working with rebuilding of preschoolsand schools in Partille.

New year and new expectations - in spite of all.
Another "fast" job for Stena Line - Stena Caledonia is designed and will soon sail the Irish Seaa between Stranraer and Belfast.
We are making a new design of one whole deck on the Stena Adventurer that will be executed during March.
We are redesigning the existing local government building in Partille as well as an addition to the building.
A design for an addtion to the Sotenäs preschool is also worked on.

Soon Father Christmas will come maybe on a reindeer as in our Christmas card. We only have a holiday greeting on our website as usual. This year we have given money to help the situation of girls in poor countries.
During october and November we did the "fastest" job ever in the history of FIGURA. We designed and Stena Marine Service built in 6 weeks and now she sails the Irish Sea.
We are also working on refits for Stena Line UK as well as newbuilds in Germany, Wismar. In this project we are the yard architect. The newbuilds will leave the yard during spring 2010.

New project filed under "interiors". Refit of Stena Voyager sailing between Stranraer and Belfast.Voyger is a 1500 passenger catamaran that we designed the interior of as a newbuild in Finland 1996. Now we have redesigned 2/3 of the public areas and implemented the new concepts Barista Coffee House, Stena Plus, Teen Town och Metropolitan Bar.
We have a new client, Canadros Cruises, that have a cruise ship sailing the Galapagos Islands.
We have a history in the Galapagos by now, having designed 3 other cruise ships sailing there Santa Cruz, Isabella and La Pinta for the Metropolitan touring.
We have gotten a nice letter from our foster child in Bukina Faso. She is writing that through our contribution the community has benefitted from school supplies for the pupils, impregnated mosquito nets for the women, vaccination of children 0 to 5 years old and training for the volunteers. We are proud to be able to help and it is a good feeling.

Our foster child with Plan International is a nine year old girl living in a small viallage in Burkina Faso.
